Metro

This is a very usual public transport everywhere. Metro is an electric railway that has high capacity and goes underground. It does not have traffic, what makes it really fast, so it is a perfect option. There are stations all around the city! 

Bus

Another public transport. This one has less capacity and can take more time because of traffic. Despite that, going by bus is a great option as you have bus stops everywhere around the city. You can buy the ticket inside the bus, but it is less expensive if you buy a pre-paid ticket with some trips.

Train

This type of public transport goes at high speed and one of the qualities of it is that is does not go underground, as the metro, so you can enjoy the view while on the train. It is not very high-priced. There are many train stations and some of them are actually magnificent, as the Rossio train station.

Elétrico

I recommend this type of public transport if you are looking more for a tourist trip to see different parts of the city than to actually move around. Some of these elétricos actually go on routes that pass through some of the most typical neighbourhoods of the city, as the 28 route for example. 

Taxi

Taxis can be found almost everywhere in the city, but you can also find them through their app 'MyTaxi'. These are a better option if you want private transport instead of public. There are taxis with capacity for 4 people, 6 people or even 7 people. 

Uber

Download the 'Uber' app and ask for a car to come pick you up and leave on another point of the city! These private transports can be more expensive as they have more comfort and quality. 

Bicycle

You can rent bicycles in many places on the street. 'Gira' is an app that has many electric bicycles around the city, and you can use your phone to unlock them! 

Jump are the bicycles from the 'uber' app, they work exactly like the Gira.  

Scooter

'Lime' is an app that you can download on your phone and that has many electric scooters distributed around the city, that you can check on the map the nearest ones and go unlock it! 

Tuc Tuc

These are motorcycles that have a large backseat, that you can find around the city. You just have to call the driver and tell him where you want to go. Again, this type of transport is more suitable for a tourist trip around the city than to actually be fast to get to a certain place.

Charette

Sometimes when you are walking on certain parts of the city, you may cross paths with a charette, that is led by a driver and one, two or four horses.
